Articulating Silence Part II

by Eric Carter

In part 1 of this post I made a huge claim. I expressed that, as human beings we are the link between heaven and earth, and that our awareness has the capacity to take on the role of heaven. Your awareness right here and now is heaven shining through this body… unborn, eternal Silence.

Awareness is the creator of our experience. Everything we do is a product of this intelligence. Our awareness offers creativity as thoughts, which turn into actions, and shape the course of our life. Look at your hand right now and identify your awareness. There is your awareness, and your hand. The ability for you to even have the experience of seeing your hand is the intelligence (your essence) shining through your body to illuminate your hand.

Now, if you close your eyes and identify your awareness you notice a black screen (Completly Silent), which thoughts pass through. If you had a constant stream of subtitles for your thoughts all day long, you would have rolling words across your vision. These words are fleeting. They are constantly moving through your awareness, which is non-moving, stable and always the same at its core. This is the co-existence of opposites I speak of. They consist of what is moving and non-moving. We have dynamic changing life on the surface, and its silent, still core, underlying all action. Your awareness is silent and eternal amongst all fleeting creation, whether it be fleeting thoughts or fleeting years that pass by.

If one thought represented the time span of life on earth, all of life would arise and sink back into the Source of Thought, which is this awareness. Here, I am adding a layer to this knowledge. If you noticed I started talking about the individual and thoughts, and traversed to encompass the entire universe. The trick here is to not limit ourselves by our current paradigm. We say, “how can my little awareness make up the universe (I will have to expand on this in part III haha)?” This type of thought automatically places a boundary on, and limits this infinite intelligence.

The term infinite is not used loosely. Awareness is not only the creator of thought, but the enabler of all experience. All of the senses, as well as the power of imagination take root in, what we take for granted as mere darkness. It is this infinite intelligence that fuels the nervous system. Life is infinite, as you have infinite options right now that are spurred from the power of your powerful awareness.

Infinity is the ability to zoom into focus on any one of the infinite points in the room you are in right now, or to be in Paris tomorrow. Infinity is the creativity of your infinite imagination to picture any number of situations, circumstances or objects right now. You could close your eyes and be a rock in the yard down the street, or picture a tiny bud about to blossom on a fruit tree at dawn. Infinity is all-possibilities, and any possibility is spurred by the creativity of your own pure awareness.

I will expand on how this awareness shifts from the individual to encompass the cosmos in part III. Also, I will give a practical exercise that you can try to see this for yourself!

Reaching for the stars from the comfort of this seat, because there is nothing in between what I am and what I see… Eric Carter, Now

indeed i agree with you, thanks for this discourse. Our lives are in fact much much more than just our minds and bodies. We are essentially Life and Infinite Eternity. And meditation helps us to see that linkage and to see ourselves as a small part of something much larger and as a result a large part of something that is in many many small parts through this world as it is…
