Story of an Indian Sadhu

The Sadhu in this picture is located in the same area I am currently staying. I see him nearly everyday when I am in Bhopal. The other day I was walking back from a function I was attending and he started letting down his hair. He looked at me and gave me the okay to take photos of him!

I showed the photos to a friend, and he told me this story. He said that the Sadhu man in the photo was a family man with a wife and kids. I was told that one day he came down with a life threatening situation. During this time he strongly prayed to Hanuman (a Hindu God). He prayed that if Hanuman would spare his life he would devote the rest of his life to serving Hanuman. Some time passed and the Sadhu was completely healed.

The Sadhu left his family and now spends his days worshiping Hanuman in a small temple where he lives. I am told his wife and child visit him every now and again…

So much of India is based around God (however the individual perceives God), and the strength of devotion. It is quite beautiful , and fascinating to watch and explore the people, their ways, and beliefs.

Eric: I am a cousin of Tom Carter, living in Murrieta Ca. (60 miles nw of San Diego) Grew up in Wy. I am retired at 64 so have time to surf the web. I absolutely love your pictures-your site- your belief- etc. etc.
I have been led many yrs. ago to go down the road of your belief. (was from a catholic tribe) I knew no one with this belief. The universe gave me the path. My sister in Cheyenne Wy is of the same thinking.
Soooo good to read your site. You are so wise. Love to see the young lead. I found you thru Tom Carters facebook site. Would love to follow your adventures as now feel I’m to pooped to pop around the world. I’ll live my remaining yrs. thru your adventuring the world. Oh how lucky you are. If only I were yrs. younger..I can’t get enough of this learning, just keeps getting better and better..
Take care and happy times ahead for you I know..
Betty Abel
